FINDING LOVE WITH A DISABILITY
Updated: Mar 12, 2021
Up until this point finding, ‘The One,’ has proved to be a very difficult subject for me. Again, it comes back to my self-confidence, and up until now I have told myself ‘Why would a girl want me whilst there stronger and more able men out there than myself?’ When I refer to self-confidence, this includes having doubts about my body, and of course, as I posted up about in an earlier blog, I really struggle with my speech, and this has stopped me from approaching and talking to girls I take a fancy towards whilst I’m out! But during the course of the lockdown(s) I’ve been doing a lot of thinking. I’ve watched and read many other blogs out there, posted by a few disability activists. The main thing I’ve seen and heard them say is ‘the most important thing you need to do before you can let your guard down, is to learn to LOVE YOURSELF, then the rest should fall into place.
So from herein, I’m going to make myself a BIG PROMISE, and that is to LOVE ME, ALL OF ME, AND TO STAY CONFIDENT WITHIN MYSELF, and if I start slipping back into my old non-confident past self, come back and read this post!
Thanks for reading,
Gavin
