MY STORY

The Author of the children's books Max And The Magic Wish and Paddy The Polar Bear Teddy, Gavin Clifton, was born with cerebral palsy, and it has always been a lifelong dream of his to become a published Children’s Author. Gavin is passionate about showing others with all kinds of disabilities, whether their disabilities are physical or hidden, that if they set their mind to it, and if they just trust in their unique abilities, there’s nothing they can’t achieve. His philosophy is ‘Always be yourself; then your true colours will always shine through.’

Gavin really wanted to make a difference and write his story about disability and acceptance just the same as any other children’s book is written, and in a way that kids can relate to and learn, whilst their senses and imagination go to where ever they need to go, but always keeping the true underlying educational message that it is ‘O.K’ and acceptable to be different, and never to judge someone until you truly get to know them.

How do I do things like TV and radio interviews, podcasts, public speaking, and school visits differently using AAC?

Due to having a speech impediment, any public speaking engagements involving Gavin, a disabled author, songwriter, and cerebral palsy and disability advocate, will require pre-recording of all dialogue and discussions using Gavin's augmented and alternative communication devices or software. To ensure sufficient time for recording responses to questions, all questions must be emailed at least ten days before the event. This ensures clear and effective communication between Gavin and the guests and gives Gavin enough time to provide thorough answers. As part of these public speaking events, Gavin can offer a video presentation at school children's book visits, inclusivity education, adult disability awareness, or inspirational speaking, depending on the event type. If there are any specific requests for video content, please inform Gavin at least ten days before the event so he can prepare the necessary materials.

Additionally, all public speaking engagements and author school visits or talks will incur an hourly rate charge to cover expenses. Unfortunately, Gavin is unable to conduct conventional in-house author workshops and only provides pre-recorded services, including public speaking, question and answer sessions, and book signings. If books are requested to be sold on the day of the event, a minimum of fifteen books must be purchased.

Please note that rates may vary depending on mileage and the specific service elements required for different events. For pricing details, please reach out to Gavin directly via email.
